I quite like my new Sony MDR-V6's... except they don't take sibilance very well at all. I knew that these headphones were considered 'bright'... I just didn't realise how bright! Many 's' sounds come across very harsh and painful.

Does the sibilance calm down with use, or should I be looking at replacing them?

Damn, that's what I was afraid of. I've tried EQing the treble, but it hasn't been very satisfactory.

I'll keep them a bit longer, just in case. But I'm also looking into the Audio Technica ATH-A700s, which are a fair bit more expensive than the Sonys, but seem very well reviewed. Good choice?

A700's are awesome. I really loved the sound so much that I used that as a reference for my next headphone which ended up being the HD650's. They are really terrific for the price, extremely comfortable (might get a little hot inside after prolonged use)
The only drawback is that they are huge! but that really isnt an issue if you arent gonna travel with it.

Interesting... are there any shots of someone actually wearing them? I don't think the size will be much of an issue unless they're the sort of headphones that envelop your entire head.
