Spent more time on here than I'm willing to admit (indefinitely) searching for IEM's. My search started with a ~200 that gradually made it's way down to sub-100.
Tonal balance is a high priority, nothing too overcolored. Definitely don't want too flat/neutral to where its lifeless as I won't be running an amp. Low freq response is important as I listen to a good amount of modern music (house, trip-hop, electronic) though don't want it to get overly distorted or muddy. Other genre's are alt/rock; jazz; soundtracks; hip-hop. Inline remote is unnecessary, prefer not to have it
Of the three, the Klipsch are the cheapest and have found are some of the most comfortable IEM's. Not interested in Shure's due to fitment, mostly will wear straight down.. Post-sale warranty and customer service are nice perks of which Etymotic seems very good at. A lot of the recommended brands seem a little difficult to obtain with a reasonable/easy return policy if not wanted.
Anything else to consider? Yamaha's are semi-tempting.
- Etymotic HF5
- Klipsch X11 (non-remote)
- HFM RE-400
- Sony Xba-h1
