Never seen molds for earbuds like that....pretty cool. Someone should do a review of some buds through one of these molds.

Interestingly enough, this is how custom IEM's first came about. IEM's were developed out of necessity for performers who couldn't stand loud floor monitors, and also understood that the convenience of walkman-like devices should be transferable to music stages.

In the early days (the early 1980's) bands such as the Grateful Dead, Steve Miller Band, and Todd Rundgren used non-isolating earbuds to hear themselves through low-band FM receivers. That eventually evolved into a custom mold wrapped around the earbud, and in the early 1990's the first 'all-custom' IEM's were introduced. By this time there were wireless systems also custom made for music purposes (not simply just an FM receiver).

Some people still use the standard buds in custom molds (Bon Jovi prefers them to just about anything) but most artists use full custom versions.

BTW, Elbow rocks! Especially their last album Asleep in the Back. I loooove listening to this album on my Grados.
