Since the original purpose of myspace was to be an online forum, if you will, for unsigned bands to get their music out there and promoted to the masses. Thanks to the Viral movement, that original purpose has been lost. However there are still alot of really great unsigned bands that put up their own creations for the world to hear.

I personally love hearing fresh new talent. And while unfortunately the music format myspace allows is by no means the best or even decent at times, you can still get a general feel for a band most of the time.

I started this thread to see what unsigned bands people on here might like or listen to that are represented on myspace. I guess I really should limit it to unsigned, but more so of bands that are not huge acts signed to major labels and played on the radio or mtv every five minutes.

The format I was thinking of would be something along the lines of

band name <- linked to their page
location and genre discription

I'll start off with a few local Dallas bands that I like and tend to have a pretty good local following as well.

Mod Effect <- some personal friends of mine.
Dallas/Garland Texas - Fusion Metal

The Destro
Dallas Texas - Metal

Somsara
Dallas - Metal

Grain
Dallas - Fusion Metal

They seem to have one really nice Reggae-esque song up too. I think the bass guitar needs a bit volume boost though.

nolocus,

Saw you mentioned Mouth Of The Architect, then you might just find my forthcoming album
to your liking.

Vaka - I have no idea how to categorize this, but if you like the dark bombastic gloom and heavyness of Neurosis, Isis, Woven Hand, etc, then it might just be right up your alley.
