Dear Schiit, FiiO, Audioquest, and everyone else:
Here is my wish list for a great iphone 7 (and any other iOS devices) accessory. Basically, I'd like to see something with a feature set like the Benin Charge Rockstar but with a decent quality DAC/driver stage. This would
- be a dac and headphone driver with a lightning cable
- be able to be powered by the lightning (limits draw to 100ma)
- have a good quality dac chip (I know mFI limits to 48khZ but that's fine sine my whole collection is red book CDs anyway)
- allows you to charge the phone while in use. This means having either a female lightning power input (or micro USB if that is allowed under mid)
- bonus points: if this is possible I'd love the driver stage to have two modes. One when it is powered only by the iPhone with the 100mA limit, and a higher current mode when connected to power. That would offer the best of both worlds: it could be light and compact since no battery needed but also drive more difficult loads well when plugged in
Seems like the FiiO i1 may be like this but I'' not sure if you can charge using it which is a key requirement. (And one that I think would make this a broadly appealing deviance instead of just for audiophiles).
Anyone know of anything like this coming out?
