Everyone: WEAR YOUR SEATBELT. If it didn't save your life, it absolutely kept you from being hurt.

I'm glad you made it through OK. Sorry about the truck, but it's just a truck.

i still cant believe someone with a truck will say that, and people do all the time.

traveling 300 ft at 50mph takes about 5 or 6 seconds, which describing the lead up situation is easily believable.

i would be happy that the roof didnt cave in. There is a debate whether you are better off without a seatbelt when the roof caves in. i suppose if its something simple like the car being flipped over by a crane (or at low speeds IE offroading or when a ROM gets t-boned by a honda in a parking lot) and dropped on its dome you might be better off. i would agree that at speed you are more likely to get ejected and squashed by the rolling vehicle than to have the roof come down and the seat belt hold you up...

I thought the back tires literally broke loose LOL. That would've been a sight

Back in 97' I think, the Oldsmobile van's back tire broke off around the axle. Onlookers said the car rolled over 3 times. It was a blur to my family and I, but we came out safe thanks to seatbelts holding us in from getting thrown outa the car.

Were the GM's known to do that?

They weren't Scelzi Romeos or Ruby Romeos were they? Ouch!

But it's good that you made it through in one piece. I also thought from the description that you were on some potmarked mountainous road and going way too fast for conditions. But we've traveled those speeds on similar roads with no issue.

Then again, we do slow down for those small potholes that happen, and I handle skids a bit differently, but while you were going too fast for conditions, it only sounds like you were going a tad faster and not suicidal faster.

Live and learn I suppose. Trucks don't make for good sports cars. Catching the iPhone is classic.

It really was my fault though. The roof caving in was my biggest worry, thats why I tucked my head in...It did cave in a little, but not bad. That 4runner was built very well.

yeah mate glad that it is only your jeep that is hurt, not your head (did you check it out) or anything worse. nice to have you still here. i remember another thread where a member who got well known did not come back from a wreck.

Thanks. I did get it check, along with my whole body. They doc said everything was good. I completely looked passed getting hurt, I was more into the fact I dont have a vehicle. Now looking back, it makes me SICK at the thought of getting hurt. It could have happened so easily...I could very well be paralized right now.

Sweet story and a happy ending (mostly). I loved the iPhone catch moment during the roll. I imagined that scene Matrix style, 360º bullet time and all!

Glad you made alright.

Lol, it wasnt that dramatic, but definatley was close. If my phone would have gotten messed up and I got hurt...I WOULD HAVE BEEN SCREWED! That road is in the outer part of the city. Noone even drove by for like 45 min. If I was bleeding bad, Im not sure what I would have done. Thats why I tried to save the phone.

It's worth keeping a CB radio in the car - they're not expensive and no license necessary. They're much more powerful than a cell and will let you call for help. Same with amateur radio. You need a license, but it's better. You can make phone calls through repeaters and out here, the California Highway Patrol monitors a frequency on the 2 meter band. Help is never far off. I won't go anywhere without a radio - an average mobile setup puts out 50W, while a cell puts out 0.25W.

Well just an update. About a month ago I was able to purchase my dream truck!!! Lifted (not good for rolling/fishtailing), sound system (most important, this is head-fi!!!!), rims, tires, faaaast as crap!! This thing does 0-60 in 6sec flat. Thats what a diesel can do when its chipped. Just wanted to share it with you guys.

wgr73, I really hope you don't get into another rolling accident again. However, with your truck raised like that, I fear it'll be just a matter of time...*knock wood*

I've learned a valuable lesson. I hate even making turns in any vehicle! I will be very careful...I'm sure you've heard this spill before, but I'm serious.
