As I mentioned in another thread, I am trying to figure out if I have a SDS on order or just a heavily modded Supra - help me figure it out:

Supra Headphone Amplifier

The following features and parts are implemented:
  1. 800v center tap power transformer - 229VA
  2. Military grade Vishay RN65 resistors
  3. 2 x 3300uf Res. capacitors
  4. Many stages of filtration with other cap networks
  5. OTL (Output TransformerLess) circuit topology
  6. Heavily Filtered and rectified DC heater supply
  7. High quality regulation - This is a brick wall to any noise coming from your wall (mains) supply.
  8. Noble volume control
  9. Silver-Ceramic Sockets
  10. Silver-Teflon wire
  11. Silver solder
  12. "Orange Drop" Polypropylene coupling caps
  13. Metal film resistors and high quality components throughout
  14. OFC Shielded wire for signal path
  15. High Quality input and Outputs
  16. High efficiency wiring
The following features were added:
  1. Goldpoint Stepped attenuator
  2. Solen Stage 1 Upgrade
  3. Jensen Paper in Oil Capacitors
  4. Pre-amplification Outputs

An SDS is simply a heavily modded Supra. They are the same thing. I wouldn't worry about what to call it.

if you look at the excel file for supra pricing Mikhail makes, it says that the SDS Package includes options 16,17,18,24,26,27,29,30,31,32,34,36 and starts at $3499.

the options:
Cardas Silver Soldier surcharge
Cardas GFRAL S/E RCA Inputs/Outputs 2 Each
Cardas Audio Internal Wiring
Jensen Copper w/paper in oil coupling capacitors
2 Channel Series Gold Point Attenuator
Audio Output Solen Capacitors X-Large
Solen Plate Voltage Input Capacitor
High Frequency Bypass Capacitors
Black Gate Power Capacitors
Black Gate Cathode Capacitors
SDS level 18,400 uF Reservoir Capacitors
Solid Silver Audio circuit upgrade

I would say that any SDS needs to have the massive 18.4 mF caps in it so I guess your amp isn't one.

Thanks to all who have replied, it appears that I have a beefed up Supra heading my way but not the highly touted SDS. Some how I think I will manage.

oh, and congrats on your new amp.

I'm sure you can do without the $1,199 Reservoir Capacitors upgrade.

That will be a fantastic amp no matter what you call it.

Congrats on a great amp! How long before you get it? You are going to love this amp.

those should be smaller than the ones used on the SDS since they only carry half the charge of the ones listed in the price sheet correct?

The ones used on my SDS are 2X3600, that would make them over twice as big. (Mine are a little bigger than a 16oz soda can) The 9200 ones are the ones used in the Supra at the N.Y. city. meet. They look almost as big as Mikhails head in the picture. I think he told me they are about the size that champagne bottles are at the bottom of the bottle.
