Hi I am a newbie just starting out.

I have a dual core PC with 2GB RAM running Vista and the Razer Barracuda AC-1 audio card and the HP-1 headphones.

I am planning to buy the Sennheiser HD600 or the AKG 701 headphones and the Head Room Micro Amp and Micro DAC.

Will this setup work well with my PC and will it sound good enough? I mostly listen to 320kbps VBR MP3 rips on my PC and regularly play games.

Thanks

He meant that what you plan on buying will sound a lot better than what you've got right now.

With such sensitive Cans, I would suggest you look at getting better DACs and ripping your music as FLAC/APE.

The specs on your sound card seem quite good a 116 db dynamic range is not at all bad, it will also do 24 bit 96 khz.

Try the phones first and then if you don't like the sound move on from there.

Your games won't sound much different; better, yes, but don't expect much in this department. As for your music, you will be blown away

And remember, it only gets better as the cans and amp are allowed more time to burn-in. For a first rig, you'll be very, very pleased. Enjoy =)
