I've had my RE0s (newest revision) for a month and a half now, and they sound fantastic. I have no complaints about the sound and build quality... except now. As I was listening to James Horner's magnificent action cue "War" yesterday, the connection in the cable became loose and while there is sound in both ear pieces, the soundstage suddenly became much narrower. It sounded like the sound was coming almost exclusively from the center now.

I found out the problem was inside the strain relief of the jack. I twisted it slightly and the full sound came back. But at certain angles, or when I'm holding and moving my iPod, some connection inside is broken and the narrow sound returns.

I take good care of my earphones. I very rarely put them into my jeans/trousers pockets, and if I do I coil them up first and put them in gently. Most of the time I wrap and coil it around my fingers and then put in back into the little plastic box the earphones came with. Which is why I'm now upset the cable was given way so fast. The warranty covers this right?

Anyway, I also wanted to ask, how do you people store your earphones? And is there any special way of coiling them up so they wont get tangled?

:O Don't say that! I've been worried that the cable would be the first thing to go on my RE0 since I got them. I wish Hifiman/Head Direct would use replaceable cables

. I've heard mixed things about Head Direct customer service, but I think you should be fine.

For coiling I hold my hand out flat facing me, hold up the right angled plug out on the first ridge on my index finger so that it's flat against my palm with the cord hanging down, and wrap the wires repeatedly around my hand. It seems to wok pretty well without putting too much stress on the cable.

That's how I do it as well. I'm disappointed it gave way so soon.

I often see people say contact Fang when the head-direct products have problems. Is he a member here and should I go through him or just contact head-direct customer care directly?

Fang has been pretty cool, if a little short (maybe because of Chinese language barrier/writing style?) when I have contacted him.
