I traded my g72s for my friend's Portapros..

I think they sound a bit better than the g72.

my friend says he sat on the portapros once.

do you think that could've changed the quality of sound or something?

i'm thinking about sending them to the KOSS so i can get new ones but im too damn lazy

nah, unless they are atleast 300lbs, i've slept with my sennheiser px200 many times. the portapro should be a lot better than the g72, can't beleive they're crazy enough to trade it. you got yourself a good deal.

The G72 is yet another example of grossly overpriced, underperformance headphones from Sony that emphasizes style over substance. There is absolutely no low-end extension whatsoever from that Street Style 'phone, and even a 50Hz mid-bass tone is barely audible. The upper bass (100~200 Hz) is bloated on it, so you'll get the false impression of bassiness. The highs are extremely grainy, as well, with no real top-end extension. So, all you'll hear from the G72 are that overly tight "one-note" bass and screechy treble - and little else.

If they sound better, then no. The only thing I've managed to do to my various pair of cheapie headphones that's changed the sound is the cord starting coming undone and the sound went very weird. Lots of static/distortion, but also kinda cool because there was still bass and mids, but not what's usually considered bass and mids, just some ranges were shifted up or down in frequency.
