I'm so pleased!

I can't believe how clean this sounds. I'm used to very good domestic hifi... and this doesn't disappoint! There is incredible bass definition. The detail is very soft, and not at all in-your-face. Maybe too soft. Probably far too early to tell.

I used:

OPALR = BB OPA2132PA
BUFL/R = BB BUF634P stacked (2)
OPAG = BB OPA134PA
BUFG = BUF634P

(I realise that OPALR and OPAG aren't the same model of op-amp... Its just what I have to hand at the moment)

I'll post pics when I've managed to take a shot in focus! Still needs putting in a case

Many thanks to Tangent for his awesome site. =)

Glad to hear you're happy with it.

The detail issue is due to using two Burr-Brown parts back-to-back. Swapping the op-amps for something more detailed should help, but you might want to play with the LMH6321, too.

I'm using the LMH6321 for Gnd (with discrete buffers for L/R). I agree, you might want to try it in your PIMETA, it'll really offset the laid-back quality of the opamps. It's more lively, has more impact...to my ears it's just as "good" a buffer as 634P, just different, in a way I prefer.

And you CAN stack them, it's just a pain because the SMD leads aren't long enough to reach to the bottom buffer. Use some thin resistor leads to connect the two.

Congrats!
The PIMETA is a great amp. I really enjoyed putting mine together.

As for detail, those nice BB opamps are likely the reason. I have the AD8620, and it is in the other direction: more detail, etc. If you do go opamp rolling, remember to adjust the voltage going to the board as all the chips require different settings.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations! Lots of fun ahead!

Hi guys.

Yes - I have the AD opamp parts. Just need to get some BrownDog adaptors and I'll roll out the BB parts and see what happens.

I'll get some pics up but at the moment I'm having great difficulty taking a close-up picture that is in focus! Need to try a better camera
