Just one question before I start using it, though: What volume level should I set my iPod to? My SiK ram din hasn't come yet >_<.

It really is best to use your ear as the guide but if i remember correctly, 60-75% worked well for me.

Well, listening to some songs shows that it does indeed sound a bit better, though I don't really know how to describe it. I guess you could say there's a bit more detail and bass, but there doesn't seem to be an earth-shattering difference. Maybe a line-out will help?

I must say, though, that drums sound absolutely incredible.

Ziddy, congrats on the PAV2.

One thing you should note right away, is that it will benefit from "burn in", and will begin to sound better after 50 or so hours of use.

I also use it with an ipod, but now only with the line out. If using the headphone jack, I believe Gary recommends you go about 60% on the volume control. But, as stated, you have to use your ears as your guide.

When I first used it, I expected an amazing/dramatic change, but didn't find it. The difference was more subtle, and not so much about volume, but about the clarity and depth of the sound. This will improve even more once you use the line out.

another thing is that certain cans will match better or worse with the pocket amp. I don't think you mentioned which one(s) you are using.

I'm using the Koss KSC75.

I'm not sure how much they will "blossom" with an amp. That may be part of the reason you are not yet impressed with the addtion of the PAV2 (in addition to the other things I mentioned).

It sounds like you may need to start thinking about a headphone upgrade. Your current phones are very solid, but to really get the benefit of an amp, think about a Beyer/AKG/Senn/Grado.......

I was unsure of spending so much more on an amp than the cans, but many people here said it'd be a good idea. I do plan to get some sort of full-sized can sometime in the future, but ~$100 is enough spent for me right now >_>.

I'm satisfied with it for now, though.
