Howdy,

recently I purchased a Sansa Clip Plus 8gb with FM radio. Why, the software on my trusty Nokia for transferring music annoys me. Once the music files are on the phone the software just changes the track listing of the albums for no good reason.

I had to buy the Sansa. I received the little device today and I like it which is proven by the fact that it already has half of its memory stuffed with 320 kbps WMAs and FLAC files.

Here comes the weird part. I played 'Satsuki' by Kagrra in 320 kbps WMA on the Sansa and the 6303 and I couldn't really tell what I liked better. Both devices hooked up to the Sennheiser HD428 sounded good. I'm puzzled by this for I expected the Sansa to sound better. I did the same thing with 'Omou' by Kagrra, again in 320 kbps and well, my ears couldn't really tell the difference.

I'll dig deeper into this portable gear observation. Have you ever noticed something similar?

I also have Clip+ but instead of 6303, I have 5800xm, what I can tell you is that thy do sound similar. maybe slightly fuller of Clip+ but it is had to notice. compare to my NuForce uDAC both Clip+ and 5800xm are colder and upfront female vocal that make it more engaging. The point here is you may be underestimating the SQ of Nokia phone too much.

I bought Clip + just three days ago while I have been using Nokia 2700 classic for more than 2 months. I have been using them with AD700 and Philips 9000 HPs. Both are good value for money products. I got Clip for UK Pound 45 while Nokia was $90.

In terms of sound quality, I find Clip better than 2700. The sound is more fuller, wider soundstage and more importantly, I noticed too much hissing/background noise in silent passages in Nokia while Clip has very little such noise.

But I getter display of tags on Nokia than on Clip. When at home, I listen to Clip but when I am out, I only use Nokia for music and other purposes.

I get more hours in Clip than Nokia on recharged batteries.

Different model does make differences. 5800xm has more than 14 hours of music and almost zero noise (maybe there is but not to my ear) SQ is similar to Clip but Clip is better

I'll dig deeper on this observation. On my Nokia 6303 music files just sound louder. Even on maximum volume the Sansa sounds softer compared to the 6303.

Yes as a music carrying device the Sansa is definitely better. Maybe Tubular Bells is a good test track. I'll check it out anyway...

Update: while testing the Fiio E5 I found the 6303 favours bass a little more. The Clip + definitely delivers more sound stage yet it only really works with good recordings, in good bit rates and good headphones with sound stage. To my ears the Clip + also sounds more balanced revealing more details without asking for more volume. The 6303 is better for in the bus and the Clip + is better for enjoying music really.
