I am poised to buy a Panansonic SL-CT590 and a pair, or um, a trio I suppose, of Altec Lansing ALT3 speakers. The rationale behind this slightly eccentric plan is (a) that this set-up will suit my semi-transient living-in-Thailand lifestyle (I'm moving from house to hotel to horrid guesthouse quite regularly these days), and (b) that it is as good a combination of amp, player and speakers as money can buy under $200.

What do you reckon then..? Am I a shrewd and tasteful shopper, or am I about to be buried under a deluge of criticism..?
