My new HD 650 gets mechanical creaking sounds when I move my head & they are coming out of the mechanical joints in the can especially left side. I Lubricated the joints but still they are there for lesse extent.

Carbon fibre ha !!!!!!!

Apart from that it is a significant step up from HD580. More dynamics and clarity. Bass impact and extension is awesome.

How can I get rid of creaks!! Its driving me nuts!

I want to fix it before I get my Canamap!!!

I'd like to know too; my K701 creaks/pops/snaps like a Rice Krispie all the time when I first put them on; settling in, I guess, but annoying nevertheless.

*sigh* don't have any answers..........

Many headphones creak from time to time. My 650's do. And boy, you should have heard the Koss ESP950 phones!

I had mine sent in for repairs, and they didn't creak, but the ones they sent me back does. When I used them a little it went away.

You might want to consider some sort of lubrication that will not damage plastics.

Weird, I have never experienced any cracking sound unless I twist the headphones with my hands. I usually stay still when I listen to music though.

Yeah till it gets worn out I think lubrication would be a good solution. But any ideas regarding one which does not damage plastics???!

I've had the creaking problem with my HD650, but luckily, it wasn't anything major.

BTW, the HD580 you sold me are amazing. Just from memory, I don't think they're any worse than my HD650 (not with me atm so no chance to AB). Plus, the cable does matter. The HD650 cable has a much more laid back sound compared to the HD580 cable.

No creaking with the HD580!

My HD650's creep sometimes too. I guess it's just the plastic rubbing against each other. The 600's I've had never did this.

Use powdered teflon, you can find it at hobby stores.
Works great.

Are there any health and safety hazards involved with potentially inhaling the Teflon?

Everything has health and safety issues these days. Thats why they regulate how curved bananas are allowed to be. ¬_¬
