No need to wash the pads... they lose some of their springiness once you wash them and in my opinion it's best to just leave them alone and let them break in on their own. Once they get really old and have squished down a lot and have a lot of hairs and skin flakes in them or aren't totally black anymore (this takes years, don't worry), then you can wash them to revive them but washing them itself shortens their life slightly.
