Just really sat down and listened to this album ... it's turned into a favorite of mine very very fast.

Didn't think I'd like some Kentucky boys music but it's very impressive .. especially after a nice fat spliff ....

Since I'll be seeing them twice during the first leg of Pearl Jam's US tour, this thread motivated me to go ahead and get the album. I'm on the first song now, seems pretty chill... I like it

. I'll edit this after I listen to the whole thing, the album "Z" that is.

i havent gotten into the album yet. it got so hyped by all the reviews.

I like the first 3 songs a lot. but the rest of the album falls off a cliff for me, starting with "what a wonderful man". it starts sounding like bush to me.

but the first three songs are really great, IMHO. i dont think ive ever experienced this with a band before. its like they got someone else to produce the second half of the album or something...?

anyone else feel this way?

Z quickly became one of my favorites. I ignored the reviews, but decided to grab it when I found it for cheap, used. The first tree tracks are key, and it jumps around from there. Still all around good album.

MMJ is one of my favorite bands. I love Jim James' voice and the way they record their music with that yummy reverb. Their unique blend of country rock, reggae, and soul just works for me.

Initially I only listened to the first half of this record, but later I started liking the second half better. "Lay Low" is my favorite track followed by "Wordless Chorus", but I really love "Dondante" as well. The live rendition of "Dondante" they played on Austin City Limits was incredible.
