Actually, it's been done for a month now. I have been unable to find a dig camera. It sounds great with my Sony V6's, and I am anticipating my future HD600 purchase.

Thanks goes to ALL that helped to develop the circuit and design. Kudos to Tangent for the great website and help.

The innards are:
AD8620
buffers: 2001's non-stacked
Dale-Vishey resistors
C1=0.1uF Orange Drops
C2 & C3= 1000uF Cerafines (off board)
C4=6.8uF Wimas
fake Alps pot
regulated wallwart only

Pictures here

This is my 3rd amp. The other two being a Mint tin CMoy and a Hansen. Unfortunately, I hear very, very little difference between my META and Hansen on my V6's. Will the HD600's show which is the superior amp or is my hearing just that bad? Oh well...

Yup, it is. Unfortunately being the dimwit that I can be, I accidently left the Weller on overnight twice and ruined two tips!! Needless to say, I hate it when I do that!

Umm, there should be a _clear_ difference in sound between a META42 and a Hansen. The META42 will be "faster", and it will have much better transient handling, especially in the bass region. I'm not talking about bass extension, I'm talking about bass tautness and slam.

There are also the practical advantages: 2xEL2001s are a lot cheaper than an extra AD8620, and balanced power rails mean you'll be able to run longer on a set of batteries.

Tell us about that output jack. I'm guessing that's what you've got on the left side of the front panel.

Is it just me or is there something kinda scarry about this ad having a pic of his amp in the middle of it? It appears on the page when you're looking through the pics, and has the image you're viewing in the middle of the display...

Let's try that attatchment again...

You're right Tangent, that is my 1/4" output jack. I just added a spring loaded jack cover that screws onto the threaded coller. I got it from Newark part # 39F650. Just double check that you pick up the right jack to mate with the cover. Since the enclosure was made of steel, drilling or punching a hole needed to fit the large locking jack was out of the question. The hardest part was drilling the toggle switch opening which was almost an inch in diameter. I gave up and gave it to my Dad. He had it done at a machine shop.

As far as comparisons between the META and Hansen, I have heard it stated that the V6 doesn't improve as much as other cans from using a dedicated headphone amp. Has anyone else heard this to be true?

Other than aesthetics, does the jack cover provide any other function? To me, it would get in the way.

If you consider keeping dust out an invaluable function, then yes.

There is a rubber grommit inside the cover which actually makes an airtight seal with the jack. Since my job has me traveling half of my life away from home, I do not use the amp as much as somebody else (maybe 3-4 times monthly.) I don't move around any when I'm listening so Nutrik's locking jack has no extra value for me.

That's primo, looks raw, I love it. 1000uf Cerafines, now that's what I like to see. geom_tol was the guy that made me want those on my meta42 which is becoming reality. =)

tangent says 2 x 440 is enough...

What I said is that 440 uF per side (or by inference, using 220 uF caps for C2 and C3) is the minimum I would use. Personally, I never go below 660 uF on a side. And yes, to a point, more rail capacitance does make a difference in sound. But since changing the power supply capacitors can change the sound in ways that you may not like, you will have to test for yourself to find the proper configuration for your taste.
