I just got my MOVE a couple of days ago and i actually have quite a lot of buzzing but no hiss when using the USB DAC but i think its probably because my laptop noisy power.

MOVE is actually my first DAC+Amp so i dont really know much about high end sound but coming from an onboard sound to me the DAC seems to have less bass more detail and for some reason the Vocal seems more distant. I've only used USB power only so far so maybe a battery or a PS would make it better

I was getting all sorts of wacky noise and static when using my laptop (the built in sound card or an external card) until I muted the microphone in the kmixer.

I don't know how that makes any sense, but it solved the problem.

It was happening even when using asio4all.

I silenced the mic and for whatever reason, it's now DEAD SILENT on USB power. I did try both USB ports and both were equally noisy...until I turned off the mic like suggested and for whatever reason it worked...What???

Laptop power is noisy anyways, so those on desktop probably don't get the noise like I did.

In anycase, the Hornet arrives tomorrow...I currently have a lil over 24 hours burned in on the Move. I go on vacation to New England on Wednesday. That is when I'll be doing my review as I'll see how dramatic the burn-in will be cause I'll be just listening to a fully burned in hornet until then. I'll also play with the settings a bit after it's burned in to atleast the 100 hour mark and see what the best settings are for my tastes....

But as it stands now, the Move blows away most everything I've listened to.

That'll be $100 for my services. I take money orders, cash, or paypal.

When I had my Alien DAC, I used the Propagamma ASIO-USB audio drivers. Kmixer was totally bypassed (Windows' Mixer didn't even list it in the devices) and provided the DAC with a clean 16bit/44.1khz signal.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that the Move doesn't have any issues with noise while connected via USB. I was a bit uneasy for a while.

oicdn: What source will you be using with the Hornet and Move while doing your comparison?

The bass and build quality are better on Move than the MkIII. The high end clarity is better on the MkIII.

The differences noticed will boil down to what HP and music you listen to. If you like Senn HD650s and classical, you probably want the clarity over bass and would favor the MkIII. If you like rock/jazz bass on prolines or denons, the Move works better.

I'll be using Lossless on an iMod, line-out on a 1st gen Nano, and the USB.

For the amp review addition, it will be just the iMod.

It's funny, cause I use my nano much more than the iMod(the difference/gain isn't justified by the gain in weight/size when on the go IMO), I just use the iMod as a baseline for "this is what it should sound like", and just go from there. Otherwise, surprisingly, it doesn't get used much.

I'll let you guys all know how it turns out.

Don't worry, I have a feeling this one will go down in the books of portable amp history as something vey special.

$230 for one of the best portable amps available? And it has a built in USB DAC? How could you not find this amp amazing? If the Headsix is what most people are guessing (Corda Move without DAC), it will be gone as soon as its announced.
