Well, I was very excited that the DT770's I ordered from Beyerdynamic's "Manufacture" custom design page arrived - 4 and a half months later! Unfortunately, the leather earpads to match the custom headband are NOT available yet, so those will be shipped later. I hope it's not another 4.5 months. They do look MUCH nicer, IMO, than the new stock DT770.

These are the 32 Ohm version, but they haven't broken in, so I can't really say if they sound any better than the 250 ohm ones. It will be a while before I can comment on that.

Oh yeah, pic:

Very 80's! I'm jealous of those Black Velours too, especially since they'll live their lives as replacement pads for your cans. I bet those would look nice as CPads on my HP2...

Actually, if the Red leather earpads ever do show up, then I will put these black ones on my Darth Beyers

Those look incredible. I was playing around with the Manufacture a while ago and my one wish is that the engraveable silver things on the headbands could be removed or made black, because totally blacked-out DT770s would be outstanding.

And 4.5 months to get them?? That seems pretty ridiculous.

Yeah I wanted non-silver "things" too, but it ends up not bothering me.

Any prelim comments on how the 32-ohm version sounds in comparison?

Based on only about 5 hours break in, I would say that the 32 ohm versions are very similar to the 250's, but I think they are slightly better balanced, with the 32 ohm ones having a slightly smoother treble, even without much break-in. But they are still basically the same headphone.

More after 100 hours
