Hey All,

I've gone through a bit of a tough patch in the last year. I lost my job (which I thought was secure), had to move back in with my folks, had a really tough time finding more decent work and just general all round bad luck.

My live-in girlfriend was suffering a similar fate, losing a job she loved and by being backstabbed by her bosses. She was unemployed for a while but was able to secure some contract work in the government. She currently loves her job, but has zero benefits or job security. Therefore it has been imperative that one of us secure permanent work. We both figured it would be her, as she has completed her education and is just more employable.

I've always said that luck is cyclical. You can't have good or bad luck all the time. I knew it was just a matter of time before mine turned around again. It seems that it has finally happened.

After a grueling series of interviews I managed to get myself a decent position at a large company. I start with full benefits and it is a full time permanent job with definite room for advancement. The pay is good and the environment is fantastic. I am finishing my degree as we speak, and I should be graduating just in time to have the ability to move around the company as there is a requisite settling period.

We also found a new apartment. Right in the heart of the city, a beautiful little place just a couple of blocks from the canal. I know that my girlfriend and I will be very happy there. It is affordable, walking distance to her workplace and offers all of the perks of living right downtown.

So, as I said, my string of bad luck has been temporarily swapped for a string of good luck. I knew it was coming, but was praying for it to be soon. I hope that it lasts as long or longer than the bad luck!

If anyone out there is feeling like they are being dealt a bad hand, please be patient. You deserve a break and will get one soon!

Cheers,

Squeek

Good luck in the future. It's always good when your luck turns around.

Mine on the other hand has got steadily worse. Some relatives (who are members of a buddhist-derived cult) recently found out what I used to / and still sometimes do professionally and said that my current run of comparatively bad luck is purely down to being punished by God for the evil things I've done. It's always nice to have supportive relatives, isn't it?

I'm coming to the conclusion that my lack of success recently is a result of me letting myself go for one reason or another, both physically and mentally. I don't feel as sharp as I used to even just 3-4 years ago and I don't think it's just age. So I'm taking steps to correct this problem.

Best of Luck, Squeek! Listen, your luck actually changed much sooner than you think when you found a girlfriend and had an opportunity to spend more time with your parents. You'll look back on these days someday and miss them. I know this past mother's day I missed my parents as well. Take care.

Glad to hear it Squeek. Although not job related, I'm on bit of a rebound myself right now and it's amazing how much better I feel about everything lately. Things always seem to work out in the end, especially if you're a good and honest person.

I think we've all been there before. Jobs seem to come and go pretty fast nowadays and you never know what can happen. Glad to hear that things are looking up for you. I hope your luck continues to be nothing but the best!

I admitedly have a hard time saving money. There is always something I want to spend it on!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I appreciate it!

Jefemeister, I'm glad to hear you are on the rebound as well. It sure does feel good. Bad luck is like the pain you feel when you get bagged really bad. It feels really good when it stops.
