I have never been impressed of the sound quality in the Ipod classic. Compared to my other sources it sucks. I know it's a portable player, but i hope and guess there are more nice sounding portable players out there....

I see a lot of people use the sansa fuze and the cowon d2. How do you compare these players to the ipod??

Other nice alternatives?

I will use the player together with Fiio E5 and Sennheiser Hd25 for portable use.

Cowon make good players and the Sony 700/800 series are excellent, but I just cant see myself going back to the iPod. I have players from Sony, iRiver, Cowon and Samsung : they all do a better job in terms of SQ than the iPod. The issue I have is simply that I spend too many hours a day listening to my portables at work - time for about 50 new CDs methinks

Kill the boredom completely, get an iPod Touch. It's the ULTIMATE distraction - PERIOD!!!!

Fuze is better if compare to ipod(HP jack) but ipod classic line_out sound quality is close to iMod if use with really good dock cable(like ALO jumbo cryo) and AMPs.

You should really look at the AMP3, a wonderful sound and really a revelation as far as players go for listening to music

LOL ! I am so entranced with mine that I havent even turned it on for 3 months !

I love mine with my RE0s, but I like analytical sounding stuff. Most people don't.

I have never had freezing problems if you format the cards with the proper formatter there is no problem whatsoever

If you want another HDD player, you might want to consider a Zune 120. Sound quality is excellent and so is the software.
