Being a newbie, I thought I'd take a moment to plug my bedroom amp. Seen here:

http://www.vista-audio.com/Custom/custom.htm#P2

it's a 5W per channel, single ended bundle of joy. A great little amp, built by a cool guy, Boris. I'm only using cheap, lowly IEM's and not the high dollar phones I see here. Nevertheless, I enjoy your site and thanks for allowing newbs in.

Nice amps, they may not work at their best with low end IEM's.

You could try Koss KSC-75's for around $10.

What! Something even cheaper than what I already use!!!! I didn't think that was possible. I had my eye on Grado SR60's, but they might not work best with my home amp. I have been watching the headphones for sale section, looking for a good match. Sounds like I just need to go cheaper, no?

A V 1.0? I did not know that. It was an eBay snag with little info. You see the things you learn when you hang out here, thanks!! I take it that my ear/headphones are woefully inadequate, no? I may have to unload a couple of pieces to finance something better. I know the board is full of suggestions on great phones. Part of my problem is I have spent too much time chasing low watt, table top tube amplifiers.

Thanks! I have a couple of others, but pic size is limited here so I can't post them.

Yep - that pic is of an original, original Millett Hybrid. The boards were sold at DIYCable.com for awhile, but have been gone for quite awhile. They're probably a collector's item by now.

Cruisaire - I definitely agree with the suggestion on KSC75's. You'll have to wait to see them on sale to get them at $10, but every Radio Shack has them in stock for $19.95 right now. They are worth it at that price, too. I've got Sennheiser HD580's and HD600's and yet I reach for the KSC's most often. Besides being cheaper than the Grado SR60's, they have a little higher impedance which will pair better with most tube amps, they have perhaps 90% of the highs of the Grados with more "sparkle", and they have much better bass thump.

(I don't like Grados, so I'm probably biased - I admit it.

Well, at that price I'd be a fool not to try them!! I'll keep an ey out for them (and the newer Hybrid as well). Thanks!

R.S. really does have them on cheap sale sometimes. I got mine for $12.50 … in overpricey midtown Manhattan … this past December. I don't use them often, but they are fun, and big wow for the price.
