It's a labour of love for sure. Meticulous sandwork/paintwork to get rid of the iMod stock white front and crome backplate.

And yes I hacked THROUGH the iMod screen and made a square window using exacto knife, filer and sandpaper. Painted them all with three layer of ACE Hardware Epoxy Black which is as tough and durable as powdercoating. Since there's no screen to portect the internal LCD, I purchased a high quality thick Screen Protector and trim it to match the LCD. Placed together, the LCD is well protected now.

Similarly my SuperMicro-IV gets pimped up as well with "softening" of the sharp edges using sandpaper and painted similarly like my iMod.

Now I am in the process of doing the same to me iRiver H120

Oooh, I was planning on rounding the edges of my supermicro (once It arrives that is :P), but was worried it might make the case too weak. Plus mine would transparent dark blue, so didnt know if that would ruin it.

But your set-up looks v.nice, id like to see your h120 after hot-rodding

, maybe give me ideas for my h140.

Thanks guys.

But I'll be honest that it takes a steel nerve to pry open my iMod, let alone hacking, sanding and wrecking it with tools.

Kabeer:
SuperMicro-IV casing is much tougher than it look. A careful sandpaper work will do the trick and it will not undermine the strength of the SMIV.

lutwey:
Go-Vibe V6 & zune was the rig I used while waiting for my current rig to materialize. I still consider zune as the BEST unamped DAP in existence now.

Now that is an iMod-rig! Congrats, EFN.

I'd love to see some close up internal pics of the iMod.

And, if you don't mind, where can I find your beautiful Rockbox-WPS?

Hey thanks buddy. I dont have the pics of the internal because it's all the same with the ones you see on Vinnie's website.

The WPS is called "Clean Dark". Get it here:

And make sure you have the fonts pack installed as well. My WPS uses clear black barkground.
