Well, I am pretty much happy with how they look now. All Black and Black!!!
It's a labour of love for sure. Meticulous sandwork/paintwork to get rid of the iMod stock white front and crome backplate.
And yes I hacked THROUGH the iMod screen and made a square window using exacto knife, filer and sandpaper. Painted them all with three layer of ACE Hardware Epoxy Black which is as tough and durable as powdercoating. Since there's no screen to portect the internal LCD, I purchased a high quality thick Screen Protector and trim it to match the LCD. Placed together, the LCD is well protected now.
Similarly my SuperMicro-IV gets pimped up as well with "softening" of the sharp edges using sandpaper and painted similarly like my iMod.
Now I am in the process of doing the same to me iRiver H120
