i just finished my first diy head amp. i built a cmoy with two opa134pa chips, bigger power caps and bigger input caps. i set the gain at 5.5 because i only have low impedence cans now but soccketed the gain resistors for and easy change. thanks to chu moy's design and tangent's tips and parts list, i put it togther and started listening to it with no problems. i used the circuit diagram and parts list but made my own layout and figured things out on my own.

i did an a/b comparison with my airhead and found that the cmoy holds up quite well. the cmoy's highs are a little more forward. the bass seems a bit tighter but not as loud as in the airhead. for some reason, the vocals occationally sounded a bit "metalic". not often, but on some songs. i didn't hear this on the airhead with the sames songs. any ideas?

cheers,
puck

Congratulations!

Good looking amp.

I'm still too lazy to get into DIY

Nice! Now do a Hansen board and watch it whoop the AirHead's butt*

You'll go far in DIY with layout skills like that; that amp looks almost as clean and professional as Sijosae's work.

* Not having heard an AirHead properly, this statement is just speculation.
