Hello. I am new to head-fi. But I have been looking around a lot these past couple of months. I have a Zune HD 16GB. Thought I would buy a nice pair of earphones for them. Got the UHP336 from Amazon when they were on sale. Fit sucks big time. SQ sucks even worse. Then got the Klipsch Image S4. Reg price w/ shipping. Comfort was really good. Boomy bass and OK SQ. So I stuck with these for a while. Then read about the RE0. Got myself all worked up and ordered a pair from head-direct 2 weeks before Christmas hoping I would get em on time. Christmas came and went but with no RE0. Head-direct blamed it on the holiday rush. By now I was really itchy, coz my quest for high-end IEMs began only a little while after the $99 TF10 sale on Amazon ended. I went out and picked up a pair of TF10 from a local ebay seller for $155. Very legit. I listen to the TF10s. SQ is good. But nothing great. I was hoping for better. Burn in? Nope. I am a head-fier and i know...

The RE0s arrive. I open the box give em a listen. Immediately dislike em. Put em back in the box. Thought I would sell em on craiglist or something. Now I was thinking the subpar SQ in the TF10s maybe coz of the bad fit. The tubey thing on which the eartips fit broke when I was trying out different eartips. Won't fit back.

Buzzkill man. I tell you. Frickin' buzzkill.
I pull the RE0's out and hook em up for a decent burn-in. I've had, I think, 40+ hours of burn-in some in-ear and some not. Woke up this morning and thought I would have a chill out session with some nice music. And, boy oh boy, am I surprised... Infected Mushroom has never sounded like this before. Now I know why these are called the most neutral sounding IEMs. It just sounds perfect to my ears. Exactly the way the artist wants you to hear the music. It's got great fit. And it doesn't take me 10 minutes to put these on...

And, also no worries about shoving em in your pocket when your done listening.
I am sending em TF10s back for a replacement. I am selling the new ones I get. I love my RE0. And FINALLY my quest for an awesome sounding earphone is over....
I gotta get back to my chill/trip out session...

If you disliked the UHP336 fit, curious why you would buy the TF10? Also, the TF10 is an easy fit once you get the ear loops bent properly If they are a good fit with your ears in general). Takes 5 seconds. And also, I agree most of the TF10 OEM tips suck, the silicones, but the Sony hybrid tips work wonders with the TF10s. Anyway, glad you like the RE0.

I didn't like the UHP336 fit coz the silicone was bad. It kinda irritated my skin...

And I was using the comply tips on the TF10s so I had great comfort and isolation. But the memory cable sucks big time. I had to mess it with the memory cable a lot before getting a perfect fit. Not really easy you know. Squeeze the foamies, stick em in, mess with the cable, pull it back over your ear for a secure fit. All that. Takes a while. But the RE0s are extremely easy to use. I use the stock medium tips and it's a perfect fit. Since everyone here was talking about Sony hybrids, I have ordered one myself. I also did the mod on RE0 where you remove the sponge inside the earphone. It is sounding absolutely amazing now....

The stock tips definitely are not great. I can't use the ones that came with the TF10 without discomfort. I tired the olives and recently bought some sony hybrids and the hybrids are much better. Also the memory cable really isnt that bad. I like it actually compared to when I use my RE0 (before I got ear guides). It's just easier to put them over the ear. It takes around the same time as the RE0 to get a good seal for me at least.

Well enjoy your RE0's. They definitely are a great pair and cheap as well :] I didn't like the stock tips on those either but better than the one the TF10 came with.

If the hybrids don't make the TF10 easier to install, nothing will help. Try the large (light blue) hybrids first. And work that memory cable until it's for your ears, it can be done. Good luck.

Thanks for the helpful impressions. I am also looking at these and IE7/RE0 as the contenders for my next IEMs and your thread popped up just in time.

I have both the RE0 and the TF10 as well, got my TF 10 yesterday, I have about 10 hours on it right now. Did some quick a/bing today out of the ipod and was slightly disappointed with the UE. I am probably keeping both but UE, despite having a fuller sound with audible bass and slightly wider soundstage(and less microphonic, but then again I wear my RE0 straight down), just doesn't sound as engaging as the RE0, I keep finding myself bothered with the recessed mid of the TF10 as well as its inferior high frequency quality.

I don't think I'll have a hard time finding a buyer if I sell my TF10, and maybe I'll get used to them. But I remember loving the RE0 the day I got them and the TF10 is not separating itself from the RE0 right now despite the supposed $200 price difference.

well both of them are great iem's. however what i noticed when i compared them was theres not as much difference as you would think there would be. some things are a little better and some arent. when i first tried them i instantly saw how great a value the RE0 was but after spending some more time with the TF10 I started liking it better. I'll be keeping both but I would give it some time to adjust to the sound.

Nice. I've got all of Infected Mushroom, Aphex Twins, Crystal Method. The TF10 does great when used on a PC with a Good SoundCard. Huge Bass while no distorted Mids & Highs. When listening to my Turbines I can hear a slight dip in mid & high when a bass note hits hard, because it's got just 1 Driver compared to 3.
