So I just got a 0404 USB in the mail last night. Plugged it in, installed the drivers, bluescreened once, the usual Creative driver jazz.
So far I've only tried it on Foobar. I was successfully able to work around the issue where switching a song takes 10 seconds in ASIO by zeroing out the fadein/out times. But in both ASIO and DS, playing back any music takes up about 50% of my CPU time, as measured in Task Manager. I know it's the 0404's fault because virtually all of the CPU time is spent in kernel mode, so the driver is causing it.
It seems like other people have encountered this, but I haven't heard anything concrete about it yet. Who else has seen this? Who else has figured out a fix?
EDIT: My system is a 3ghz P4 with 1.5GB of RAM and Windows XP.
