I've been listening to my HF-1 the whole week and today, i felt bad neglecting my 595s. So as i grabbed my book to read, i turned on the music.

I was kinda shock with the sound coming from the 595s. They suddenly seem a lot more distant and the soundstage was very very big. It's really strange to find that the 595s sound so alien to me. The imaging is really good. Wow, these are great chill-out cans. The HF-1s are really really fun.

Anyone has this experience?

Yes I felt the same way.I have lived with my 225's for a bit and just got the 595's..sound is more distant and somewhat cloudy--they're only 2 1/2 days old so burn in still has a ways to go...anyway, they are a very nice departure for a different sound.

I kind of had a similar experience with different Sennheiser headphones. I've been listening only to my new HD 600s all week. Before I got them, I used the HD 497 at home. Today, I took out the 497s and was shocked at how much livelier it sounded. Am I crazy for thinking it just made the music sound much more involving and energetic? Though some could complain it was excessively bright, it was nice to hear an energetic midrange and upper midrange. Sure, the 600s have a much more refined and smooth and well-extended sound, but they seem to make the music sound so veiled and subdued, even at loud volumes. The fact that the 497s are supra-aural rather than circum-aural may also have led the sound to be more direct and focussed. Perhaps I should look into some Grados?

Similar experiences here with Grados and 595s, I used both for different music for quite a while. The effect reverses if you go strait to Grados from listening to 595s for a long time. I won't say how my SR225s sound now that I usually listen to either SA5000s or 595s

It's weird how the mind grows accustomed to things.
