So I lost my ear pads on my mx500s and noticed without the pad's that the bass loses it's deepness and that the soundstage has almost completely deminishes

well anyways I wear my buds at a low volume while riding my scooter around, and I went to ratshak and picked up these earbud replacement 33-376.

these things are thick and look huge, but they are thick and paddy but they do fit in the ear I find better because it is tighter but without any uncomfortable pressure.

and sound?
well the sound goes from trebely to a warmer tone
the midrange is still there
and the sound stage is immediately improved...
bass is punchier and deeper and controled

the sound? simular to my sr-80 grado's for a lot cheaper
and more portable

very happy with the results

go ahead and give it a try sometime guys

I haven't listened to my Senn MX4/500s in over 3 months...

Ouch!!

Are these purely standard, thicker foamies we're talking here?

I can't find replacement pads for my MX500 and E888 anywhere here in Lisbon, not even at Fnac like someone mentioned.

I think I will have to resort to bribing someone in the US to buy me some...

Hmmm, now that I think about it, that is a pretty good question.

Maybe they just have some nicely-paved streets where he lives

Most scooters are relatively quiet anyways.

Thank you for this mod. tip!

I have a MX-400 (CAD$25 also from RS); and those RadioShack 33-376 foam pads make my MX-400 sounds richer and fuller. I like my MX-400 before and I am even happier with it now with those RS foam pads.

Great inexpensive (i.e., CAD$5) mod for the MX-400/500!

Pretty nice sound from a CAD$30+ earbud/foam pad combo!

Care to send those pads to me to carry out my own comparative 'test'? All in the interest of science of course!

I haven't used my MX400 since I got my Grado SR80 & HD600. Still waiting for my ER4s & T/Airheads to arrive..
