I've been reading through alot of posts about the differences between these cans, and owning both the 300's and the 400's myself, I really can't hear much of a difference between them. The only differences so far are because the 300's are brand new and the 400's have about 100 hours on them, so obviously they're a little more burned-in.
I honestly think the only difference between the 300's and 400's is that one little silver accent piece and the fact that the 400's come with a case... is that worth the $5 extra, considering the 300's are only $7- to begin with? Depends on if you need the case, I guess.
I'm guessing that an in-line volume control on the 500's may be what causes them to sound very slightly different from the others. Being that I don't like volume controls or mute buttons on my headphones themselves, and the fact that I use an altoids tin to house my buds (so I don't need the case that comes with the 400's), I think the 300's represent an excellent value at around $8....
Anyone else concur or disagree?
