3 Inches of Blood . They are the same Style as Symphony X but have much more style and better song writing. Start with their second and best album "Advance and Vanquish". Their new album "Fire up the Blades" is also very good ( a little heavier, it is also recorded pretty well from an audiophile point of view). I don't like the new album quite as well but it is good. Advance and Vanquish is more melodic (still heavy) and Fire up the Blades is more thrash.

Think of them as Iron Maiden modernized and put on steroids.

Note: that they write Theme albums that tell a story.

Another band you need is Iced Earth. They are clasic for this style of music. There are so many good albums from this band. Start with "Some thing wicked this way comes" and/or "Horro Show". Again this is a band that is heavy that can still carry a melody. There new alums have a new singer and IMO is not near as good. Horror Show was the last album with the old singer.

Another band is Demonds and Wizards. This band has the old singer from Iced Earth. This band and Iced Earth are very similar but Deomonds and Wizards has multible singers and more melotic coruses. Start with the album " tuched by the crimson king".

If you like any of this band PM me and I can recomend many more and give you more detial.
