Music Paradise 701 MK2 Preamp and tube rolling

I gave the the Jantzen their chance, and they performed beyond my expectation, however, they left me asking for more bass. Then I put in the 2.2uF Mundorf Supreme Silver/Gold/Oil, and problem solved, but I am not stopping there, I have ordered the Mundorf Supreme Silver/Gold/Oil in 3.9uF and 1uF.

You're racking up quite a cap collection there, what are the 1uf going to be for , bypass?
Still waiting on the adapters to try 6sn7s.
Bypass. Basically, I wanted Mundorf Supreme SGO in 4.7uF, but it is too big it won't fit. So I bought the 3.9uF and 1uF to put in parallel to give me 4.9uF. Or, I can put the 1uF in parallel with the 2.2uF to give me 3.2uF. I will try these combos, although I am already satisfied with the Mundorf 2.2uF.

Received the Mundorf SSGO 3.9uF, they are bigger than I first realized, even the 1uF Mundorf is bigger than the original OHVL PB8.2uF. The cover of the unit no longer fits with these capacitors in.

My speakers are very sensitive (105dB per 1 watt per 1 meter). Furthermore, my amp has 75Kohm input impedance compared to the 2K input impedance of the MP-701. Even at the gain of 4, and the volume level at the 9 o'clock position the level is already at earsplitting.

I am now able to achieve almost the same sonic performance with the MP-701 as my Classé Model Five preamp. The Classé model five and six, in my opinion are two of the best preamplifiers ever made, regardless of price. The fact that I am able to find the right combination of tubes and coupling caps to almost match its sonic performance with the MP-701 says a lot about the MP-701..

I've swapped the coupling caps from Mundorf 2.2 Aluminum Oil to 2.2 Silver Gold Oil and that was another noticeable improvement. It gained some clarity and snappiness which also helps to improve placement in the soundstage. Sounds sound more like just appearing in the room instead of coming from the speakers. It was already good with the AluOil caps but that's the area where I noticed most of the improvements with the SilverGoldOil.

I've also tried the 2 2.2 Alu Mundorf in parallel for the psu bypass (so 4.4uf) but that resulted in a bit too thin sounding presentation. I've now settled on the stock PSU cap + one of the Alu Mundorf in parallel, which adds up to 6.8+2.2 = 9uf. Since up to 10uf should be safe according to manual I'm gonna run with this setup for now.

Overall really happy with this pre. It manages to suck me into the music like nothing else.

I hear you, same here. The more I increase the Mundorf SSGO in value, the more impactful the bass becomes. The 2.2uF SSGO was excellent, then I put 3.9uF....WOW!!
Bass becomes more resolute, more impactful. These caps are expensive, but they are worth it.

What kept me away from the 3.9 is the clearance issue with the chassis. But I'm considering to get 2 SSGO 1uF and put them parallel to the 2.2.

No, the 3.9uF fits fine with the cover. I had issue to make it fit at first, but it fits fine after I remove the little plastic thing used to zip tie the capacitor to the board.

Ah good to know that 3.9 can fit that way. Still probably gonna try to get 2x 1 or 1.5 uF separate and put them parallel since I spend the money on the 2.2uF now  .

I agree, since you already have the 2.2uF.
