Headphones made the cover of the new Music Direct catalog. Once again it was a Grado victory. The next time I fly, I had better look into first class if they are providing Grado RS-1s and what looks like a Rega Planar 9. They must believe you don't need any vibration control since the table is already floating on air.

Other cool news from this catalog:

NEW Grado PH-1 Phono Preamplifier

It looks like the RA-1, Tuberoller, try to get one for a review

The NEW Grado RA1-AC Powered Headphone Amp $425 (coming soon) Upgrades will also be offered on older units.

They are selling very cool looking Dared Tube amps now, as well as the Slanling CD T-100 CD player and T-200 SACD player!

The Cardas Sennheiser cables are now being sold for $149.99

Also, a NEW headphone amp from Pro-Jet called the Pro-Jet Head Box for $249.99

I got my Grado RA-1 Amp from Music Direct, so they are safe and easy to deal with.

Heh. I've never even been interested in AC for the RA-1. I do have the AC adapter for the HPA-1 that I'm using in my office system...and never use it at all. There is a reduction in noise using battery power. If an amp can do it, why not take advantage?

I was interested in AC for the RA-1 until I discovered a certain set of rechargeables recommended by the King

I already have the Grado PH-1 phono amp and Musicdirect has loaned me a large number of really great cartridges that were used only for the photo shoots.I have promised to write a detailed review, which I will post here.I go by Musicdirect about twice a month and always end up spending big bucks.the great thing is my wife loves the place too and goes by without me very often.

It is an online store, but also has a storefront.

It's a truly great outfit that's populated with highly knowledgable salespeople. Located a short walk from the Green "L" line in the old, warehouse district west of the Loop, it's close to other quality Chicago icons such as Intelligentsia coffee and the Goose Island brewery. If you're in Chicago, make the trip.

I'm passionate about Chicago! It's truly a great city.

Bes, one of the mavens a MD, spent hours intstalling a V15 in a great, old Empire turntable that was given to me.

This is Music Direct's best catalog yet. Wow, they're even selling the EAR headphone amp (probably sell one every 2 years).

I just bought Mobile Fidelity's out-of-print Gold CD of Traffic's "Shootout at the Fantasy Factory" for less than it originally cost. What a great deal (It sells for like $100 on ebay). Of course, I also bought some acoustical room-treatment stuff, so it still worked out for them.
