This isn't really headphone-related, but you guys are always a good source of information. In my home theater, my receiver has 1 set of 5.1 analog inputs. I find that I am in need of 2 sets of inputs. It seems to me that it should be relatively simple to build a switching box to do this. Basically, I thought that I would need a couple of switches wired up (I don't know that I could find a switch big enough to do all of them at once, a 12p2t?). In my mind, I would just run the inputs directly into switches, and the outputs directly out of them. First of all, would this work? Second, are there any other problems related to this?

The other question would be, is there some way I might be able to automate the switching? I've never worked with relays, but is there someway to make the switching automatic by using relays? The other option would be to control it via IR (so I could use my remote), but I think that's probably far beyond my skill level. Anyway, any thoughts you all have would be appreciated!

If you can find an old RS232C input switcher (serial cables) they usually have a nice rotary switch on a scale large enough to switch all of your inputs. The boxes are easy to find and it wouldn't be hard to cut off the serial ends and solder on RCAs instead.
