For all of you who have had MS2 or MS2i:

How many of you have gotten rid of them ln anger, for reasons OTHER than weight??

C'mon guys! I'm looking for something WRONG with these cans other than weight, to help talk me out of buying them!!

This isn't helping!!

Not at all!!

I sold mine simply because the RS1 does everything the MS2 does ... and more. I Just didn't find myself listening to the MS2 enough to justify keeping it around.

Upgraditus is an illness(I have it too)not the fault of the cans. Phooie. Answer is a foul; doesn't count.

The phrase is being officially changed to "Sorry about your SANITY!"

....well for some of us anyway.

Nice try!!

EDIT: Yeah, I'm down to RS-2 or MS2 and am having trouble pitching one out. They're both good!!

I know why some folks discounted RS-2 but nobody seems to dislike MS2 other than weight!

Well, there's a headscratcher if I've ever seen it. The

smily would be an understatement.

Wanted to move up the Grado chain.

Also, the MS2i is a colder headphone than I like in a Grado. I prefer the warmer Grados, and the MS2i is one of the most clinical and cold. It's excellent though, and I've considered picking up another now that I have a main Grado headphone that is warmer.

Chances are I'll end up with another one, yeah.

With your upgraditis problem, you will eventually get a RS-1 or GS-1000. So just tell yourself to wait and save money for those headphones. Another grado worth saving money for is the headphile ms2i...............

even though i loved my ms2, they were also getting the cold shoulder from me after i got the rs1. it didn't make sense to keep letting the ms2 collect dust. i still miss them as i had wanted them for such a long time and when i finally did get them, they had special meaning to me.

Ok then......I seem to see a pattern emerging here:

The MS2s are great phones along the upgrade ladder that just can't compete after a major upgrade. That's Cool; That's understandable.

They are also a bit cooler and analytical than some would like. And that's cool too since lots of audio studies over the years have suggested, in speakers anyway, that a warmer sound is prefered by a small majority of the total population of listeners.

So, there is nothing WRONG with MS2, they're just not everybodys cup-o-tea!

But yeah; they are heavy! My 11/16" 12 point sockets have told me that!!

For rock(and I've bought Nothing BUT Rock since getting my MS-1s in March!!)my MS-1s shine! I'm sure that for rock the MS2s would be a great choice. Unfortunately over half my collection is classical and/or "acoustical/other" stuff that I tend to find a bit less enjoyable with the MS-1s cooler presentation. Still good! But not quite.

So, perhaps going with my other option in the "Battle of the Twos" IS the better way to go in my particular situation.

I'll get the warmer sound that well over half my collection prefers, I'll get the lighter weight that my ears prefer, and I'll even find myself somewhat immune to the most horrible effects of the Upgraditus Bug!

Yup; sounds like a plan.

So: Thanks for the inputs guys; as always: most helpfull indeed!!

Don't drop them onto your precious wooden floor. Metal is harder than wood after all.

Apart from that, if you are the type who listens while shaking your head vigorously, the MS-2 should be crossed off the list. They do not clamp onto your head, but rather cling/hang on the head. I hate the sound of bowls/MS-2. Way too bright. Flats/MS-2 is the perfect nirvana for me.

Cheers!
