Have anyone compared their MS1000 with the high end grados? Is the MS1000 a good contender? or the MS1000 sound just another sub 400 range can?

I have both the gs1000i and ms1000 and to my ears the gs1000i is much more refined.
However, for the build cost of about $180 USD for the ms1000 it is a very nice phone.
I'm working on a comparison of those two right now and may have an rs1i to throw in the mix soon.

How does the bass of the GS1000i compare to the MS1000? Even with the mod, I still find the impact of MS1000's bass a little lacking.

An Ms1k is a fine improvement for the MS1 but the mod doesn't lift it up onto a much higher level.
The next step is a modded MsPro aka MsUltimate and this one is better than GS1000 imho.

Has anyone heard the RS1s with the MS1000 mod by any chance? Does it have the same kind of improvement that the MS1 --> MS1000 modification has (ie massive soundstage and an additional layer of base?)

Haven't heared it, but theoretically it should work as well, maybe things get a bit bright though.
