Replace home with store and that's exactly the kind of problem you'd want to have :p

Nice explanation of Silver coated copper wire! Corrosion resistance and surface effect. That is essentially what I have read over the years. There is endless debate about cables as they do influence the sound but IMHO changing between copper and silver is a major step. If you want to hear a big difference try one or the other.

I'm super interested in this! Can anyone who has tried doing that give impressions? If it ends up having the effect I think it would, this could be what pushes me into buying an ether flow.
My HD600's are like this. They have the foam taken out and it seemed to remove the part of the sound that people perceive as "veiled".

You may get a sharper treble from doing so.

Out of curiosity, is there interest in ETHER Flow tuning kits? If so, what would you want to accomplish?

Oh, I thought you were talking about your home before. Why wouldn't you want a bunch of "audio addicts hang’n around" at your store? :-D

I doubt it's possible with a tuning kit, but: moar soundstage!

Ok, i admit im late to this party, but, i run fast, and i always catch up quickly.

This will take a little time to write, so, if you need your posts to be one liners, then this isn't it.
Just letting you know.

So, recently, i picked up the HD660S, the H1707, and the Aeon Closed, and the Audeze Sine.
Dan's Aeon C's tone, and reviews by Tyll and Z, have led me to consider that i might need the Ether for my work.
As, ive not been able to find a true reference sound, in a closed, and i need one.
The Aeon C, has been a joy, and as i said, i need a closed, a reference, and Tyll and Z gave me incentive also, to consider buying the Ether C.

But then a snag....or 2....... or 3. First, Tyll's Ether review, and you probably know, is a fractured, hem-hawing - struggle unlike ive ever seen him commit to video.
For every compliment, he then crushes it........all the way through. """"""On one hand its a "reference", "amazing", but on the other hand its 5-6Krz is exactly the annoying kind you never want".........and on and on..............finally he just says that its overpriced for what it does, but its still a fine headphone. Next, he issues a walk it all back retraction, Vid #2, and gives it sort of a sort of shotgun wedding kiss of love.........very strange.
Then, i go to Z-reveiws, and he is madly in love with it....The Ether is everything that a closed can would hope to be, and 10x more, and he is going to buy it, because its just greater then great.
But with Z, he, i think, liked a headphone's sound to be slightly etched at both ends, and maybe, he is not all about the mids, as he should be, if he is going to review sound generating strap ons.
I believe he loves the P7 by B&W, and that one is a "V" shape, as are some others he really seems to like..
Finally, Dan tells me that the Ether C has less bass then the Aeon C.

So, somebody who understands that mids are the real deal, and if that is not right, its all wrong......come and give me your opinion of Tyll's statement that the Ether's 5-6Khz is over blown.

Is it?
And what do you think about their bass?
Here is what i noticed about the Aeons...... If you start your day of listening with them..then the bass is lovely.....its neutral, but its certainly not low, or missing.
But if i put on any other headphone.......any, does not matter which, then the first thing i notice is the bass is suddenly, ...."there".
That is the best way i can describe it.
So, if you have the Ether C, then share with me, regarding my questions, if you have time.

Can you clarify whether you're indeed talking about the Ether C, or rather the Ether C Flow that this thread is about (together with the Ether Flow)?

Does balanced connection itself makes difference? I mean given the same output wattage, does balanced output makes difference from single-ended connection?

It's shame, but finally I gave balanced output connection (via fiio q5) to my ether c flow after the 2 years of the ownership. There seem immediate improvements in transparency, sub-bass, details retrieval. Going back and forth between Clear, I can certainly notice its inherent limits as a closed can. However, there are certain aspects I like more on ether c flow than Clear. Vocals sound forward and sweeter on ether c flow, while they are slightly recessed and sound metallic on Clear (maybe due to the copper driver?). Clear outperforms on classical, but pop sounds so sweet on ether c flow probably due to Dan's magical tuning.
