Ok wait so does the new thing with Creative.....does that mean there's a new detachable cable with mic on it? Cause if that's it, and theres a way for us to order that without the bundle (don't need the X7 I'm sorry) that would seal the deal for me.

Chord Mojo and Ether C -- incredible together.  Both have detail, transparency and dynamics to die for. The Mojo will rival or exceed most desktop dacs and amps, per several members of Head-Fi, and Rob Watts, the chief designer and principal of Chord, has stated that the processing power of the Mojo is a large multiple of the processing power of just about every dac out there, portable or desktop, even dacs used in full sized audio systems, regardless of price. I can believe it and I can say that the Mojo bests the well regarded $2,000 dac in my big system (listening through the dac's built in headphone amp.)  Plus, the Mojo's amp section puts out 5 volts, v. 2 to 3 in most full sized headphone amps. And when the Mojo is combined with the Ether C...

when i first saw this i thought it was a satire article http://www.prweb.com/releases/2016/01/prweb13149716.htm

but dan's twitter seems to confirm it's true https://twitter.com/mrspeakers

what an interesting collaboration

ooh

That's good to hear! I like that sound blaster has decided to use a BurrBrown PCM Dac Chip, I liked it in my HM 801

yet another reason I really need to get my hands on the Ether C

The Burr Brown (Texas Instruments) PCM1704 chip in the HM801 is an R2R chip. Vastly different from the Delta Sigma PCM1794 in the Sound Blaster rig. I wouldn't expect them to sound the same, but still, pick up the wonderful ETHER C.

More kudos to the Ether...

From InnerFidelity's "year in review"

Mr. Speakers Ether - It's not so much that I use it every day, but rather that I simply can't think about the >$1000 headphone category without thinking about Mr. Speakers Ether ($1499). It may not be the top performer in terms of technicalities or listening pleasure in the category, but in my opinion it may be the best balanced offering—delivering very good sound, comfort, styling, and build quality while also coming in at a price that doesn't feel like it's cutting flesh to the bone. But that's not the thing that has me fascinated with the product.
For me, the special thing about the Ether is that it's purely the result of one man's passionate enthusiasm for headphones. Dan Clark founded Mr. Speakers as the organically logical next step in his hobby of modifying Fostex T50RP headphones. And for years now, it's just been one organic enthusiastic step after another, until, with the Ether, he has fully evolved his activity into professionally manufacturing a headphone from scratch, start to finish, including the manufacture of his own diaphragm and driver. To take that journey from hobbyist with a soldering iron and a tube of glue, to a professional manufacturer with a product solidly competitive at the highest levels is...well...it's inspiring. It may take millions of dollars and a room full of engineers and MBAs to run one of the big companies I talked about at the top of this page, but it only takes one enthusiast, with lots of passion and willingness to work on it for a few years, to make a world-class headphone that competes with the big boys.
The Ether gives me hope for a very interesting future lead both by big engineering teams and individuals with a passion for music.

So, I walk to the grocery store with Ether C, iPhone 6, and Cayin C5. Hard to imagine it getting much better than this, does Mojo really stomp on the Cayin? I'm in the store and nobody turns their head to stare me down as I play "Magic Man" by Heart full blast, so isolation/leakage is in full effect.........."Life Stories" by Just Jack comes in and man, things are getting pretty magical .............is this
THE end game portable headphone?

I think so boys.

We'll have to see what soft of reviews the new beyerdynamic T5p.2 get. That seems to be the only real competition (possibly) for high end, portable closed can.

New soon-to-be ETHER-C owner (and hopefully lover) here.  Placed my order yesterday with an estimated lead time of 2 weeks.

I have it on good authority that the Micro Zotl2 tube amp drives these cans with power to spare, and I'm almost decided on giving it a shot (on a two week trial period) once the cans arrive.

Fun times ahead!

Have you contacted Mr. Speakers? I have seen others that have ordered lately and were given a lead time. If yours have passed contact them. Why post here?
