MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones

I decided to order that cable based on the impressions of several people in this thread. I am expecting miracles. Lol.

Tony, I reacted the same way when Trevor told me about the synergy between the Vanquish and the Alpha Dogs, I thought, well the Draug 2 is great cable and better for my 560's, could there be that much difference? Well, yes, the Vanquish opens up the sound stage, extended, but made the extremes more cohesive. The Draug 2 is better for my 560's and the 800's I tried at the Meet, but I know you will pleased with your new Vanquish Cables!

The great cable debate has existed for decades in audio, and nobody is going to "win" by posting a chart.  Arguments about whether or not cables make a difference is sound science and is OT.

On the threads, we're supposed to respect each other's experiences, if you have not even tried and are just injecting dogma the mods may close the thread, which would kind of be a bummer. If you tried and didn't hear a difference, that's fair.  If you heard a difference, that's fair too.  But these cable arguments usually turn into some kind of gnarly subjectivist vs objectivist dogma fight, and there's really no point.

If you have direct experience with the Alpha one way or the other share it, but don't try to prove someone else's experience is wrong, that's what gets the mods involved.

We make nothing off of 3rd parties selling cables, so I have no skin in the game.   But my experience is cables make an audible difference, sometimes good and sometimes bad, and sometimes can't hear a difference.

EDIT: posted while writing.  Whoops.

Hi Dan.  The only reason I changed out your otherwise excellent OEM cable was I found it to be quite heavy and I wanted something lighter for my all-day listening sessions while I work.  Now if someone can figure out how to get rid of the cable microphonics in the AD so that I can move my head during quiet passages, I'll be completely happy.

I've used many aftermarket cables with my gears and I like them. Sometimes, I hear an audible difference, but expecting a miracles improvement by only a cable isn't fair too.

You don't change the basic characteristics of a headphone with a cable. I look for synergies, that take an already great product, the Alpha Dog, too self-actualization, I.e., minimizing the HP's weaknesses while maximizing its strengths. So no smoke and mirrors, Leprechaun Farts, but finding true synergies where they exist and exploiting them.

I wanted a new cable because I like to sit away from where my amp is situated and the stock cable isn't really long enough to stretch across my living room. At the risk of sounding shallow, I also bought it because it looks nice :-) I was being ironic when I said that I expected miracles, but I don't rule out some improvements. I've had quality cables before and I have heard the difference they can make in a good system. What makes me cynical is when people say that a cable can completely transform the character of a headphone and elevate it to the same levels of performance as another headphone costing five times its price. However, the praise for this Vanquish is pretty much universal so I'll just have to wait and see :-)

And Dan, I don't think the mods will close the thread. If they did that every time a cable debate kicked off then there would be no Head-Fi :-)

Synergies is something to laugh at strange.  It's seems to me all the aftermarket cables I ever owned or tried sound good - Heck all the stock cables I've owned sound good as well. I like aftermarket cables for the looks and flexibility. I guess synergy is everywhere.

In my experience, sometimes the synergy in higher-end products comes from that big hole in the bank account needing to be filled by fulfilled expectations, regardless of changes in the audio signal or not.  :)

That's pretty much what I think, once I get my new headphones, I'll most likely get an after-market cables, listen to both the stock and after-market cables for a while and run some blind tests. I won't lie, looks and weight comes first.(Which is why I LOVED the vanquish)

I mentioned in a post earlier that I didn't want to continue the great cable debate in this thread because debating is OT and mods are always watching like eagles. But anything related to the Alpha Dog (sound changes, tweaks, modifications) is part of the thread. That is why there are people who are so eager to post about their awesome cables because of the perceived differences. I want to back this with scientific evidence though and I know the changes I'm hearing aren't "major" but they aren't minuscule either. I need to create an objective test to put this beast to rest once and for all.

A few measurements might work.
