Could be a fit and seal issue. Could be channel imbalances outside of spec, which Dan would be able to help you out with if that's the case.

I haven't noticed this with mine so far, seems pretty even throughout.  Did the bass screws get adjusted at all?  If not, could probably reach out to Dan and see if he has some ideas.

I know occasionally when my left ear pad doesn't press on their just right that things can sound a little off but that has been my only experience.  I did bend mine a lot following Dan's YouTube video, I apparently have a beaker from the muppets type head.

Yeah thats a good point it could be something to do with the seal around the ear differing on one side? have you tried rotating the pads at all to make sure its sealing nicely on both sides?

I have a problem... My cables to my Alpha Dog have a loose connector on the right cable that keeps spinning in circles making it impossible to plug in the right cable to the right side. How do I fix this?

EDIT: with some fiddling I managed to line them up and plug them in but still not a permanent fix

Has anyone attempted to use the alpha pads with the dt 990 pros? I'm tempted to try them out, but I don't know if they'll fit.

I had the same problem. I understand it as an issue with the design of the cables.

The plug has a free-spinning sleeve.  The proper way to rotate the cable is by the strain relief or cable itself, vs the metal sleeve.  The sleeve's function is to unlock the plug when you want to unplug the cable.

    In other news...

I think I hit the point where my AD's have really opened up, burnt in, fairy dust activated, Devil accepted a FedEx'ed order of ice from Eskimos in Fairbanks, whatever.  I'm guessing I have about 100 hrs on them.  Taking the day off from work to enjoy a nice looong weekend and decided to start the day with some great coffee and a little Ulrich Schnauss - A Long Way to Fall.  Started with the first track, listening at low levels (16/44.1 ALAC - Macbook Pro - Wireworld Starlight 7 - ALO The International - AD's) and around the time the third track started, I noticed a ton more air, definition, depth, and a remarkable solidifying of the bass.  Turned the volume up and the clarity remained crystal, the bass tight and convincing, soundstage expansive.

    I'm grinning ear-to-ear.

I cannot wait to add proper desktop amplification and see what these things can *really* do.

^^ If you're not looking at the lyr2, you should be. If you want to save some money, then you should be looking at my lry1. [IMG]

Exactly what I'm looking at (Lyr2), because I have no children to sell so as to afford a Cavalli Liquid Glass...

Thinking about Lyr2. Thought about yours, but the gain switch is critical for me. Or at least I choose to believe so. If you have a decent DAC with pre-outs, the Vali is surprisingly good. Really surprisingly good. It gets 50% +/- listening time for me.

Pha ha ha...just have more kids and you'll be in good shape. I have five. [IMG]

Is the going rate, 2 kids for a liquid glass?

The ADs with Lyr2 using Siemens Cca tubes, listening to Giorgio by Moroder ----> bliss :D.

Truly a 3D soundstage. You feel like you are in the cafe with Giorgio.

I bought the tubes from Upscale Audio. The tubes are platinum graded.

The one negative of this tube is the weak bass. But the 3D soundstage more than makes up for that.

This is what ADs are for!
