Anyone here know if there are any good forums for discussion of motorcycles? I did some searches and couldn't find any. Thanks
I never have much luck searching and I thought someone here might know.

I used to browse some years ago, but unlike the "community" feel here, almost every thread eventually ended up being some macho "my bike is better than your bike" junk

Unfortunately, I can't find the forum anymore in my bookmarks.

I don't know about general motorcycle forums, but I visit three forums that are each bike specific (Honda Rebel, Suzuki Savage, and SOHC4[Honda Single Overhead Cam Four Cylinder]. Each of these has links to other sites. You'll have better luck finding a bike specific site.

sniff,sniff

If I can't ride 'em I don't wanna talk about 'em

The wife informed me my riding days are in the past due to my last wreck (5 damn years !!!!!!!!!!)

looked like friggin superman flying 1.5 blocks airborne

if not for hitting some guys lawn when I came down ?????????

and yeah I DO miss it but then again there is no code of the road anymore

these knuckleheads out there treat a bike as if it had four wheels and a steel cage

NOT !

GIVE THESE GUYS SOME DAMN ROOM

They do not have the same margin of FCK up

you dump ,YOU HURT

simple

no good wrecks , surviving the wreck is the whole battle

there's plenty out there - it just depends what you're looking for!
Try http://www.visordown.com for UK based bike discussion... Varies from arguments about novel valve arrangement on the 1932 Hurley Pugh to virtual punch ups in the virtual bar.
Or try http://www.bikenet.com.
Any one of those will have further links available (but I only know UK based ones)...

Any recommendations on a good entry level motorcycle?

What type of bike did you have in mind? Cruiser, touring, UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle), or crotch-rocket?
Your height and weight will also play a part in your decision, as the best bikes to learn on are small.

I prefer Harleys but they're definately not entry level. That's why I'm riding an 86 Honda XL250 (dual sport). Uncomfortable seat, rough ride, kinda slow on the highway, doesn't handle great on the road, etc. but it's all I could afford to buy and insure. Plus I used it off road for a year before I got it licensed last month. My next bike will be an older (late 70's to mid 80's) Yamaha probably a 400 or so.

Oh and the Yamaha I wanna get won't be a dual sport I want a road bike this time. I'm not a fan of those sport bikes either.

btw anyone that starts saying that Harleys suck and are unreliable I'll just say this now, my dad had 1 Honda and 2 Yamahas before getting his Harley and all 3 Japanese bikes had some problems in the short time he owned them (carberetor on Honda, Jets on 1 Yamaha, exhaust and vibration problem on the other Yamaha and these bikes were all only a couple years old), he put lots of miles on the Harley in 10 years without one single repair and my 2 uncles have Harley Electra Glides that are the same. And nothing can beat a Harley for the awesome sound they make.

I'm looking for a sport bike, mostly for commuting and highway trips. 5'10" and 160lbs if that makes too much difference. I guess crotch rocket would be the category

Sorry, Hongda.....can't help you there. I've never owned one of those, and I'm too old to start now. Whenever I see one of those things go whizzing by at 100 mph+(which, BTW is very easy and tempting to do on those rockets), I say to myself, "that guy wants to die!" For $10,000, you can buy a stock Suzuki that will reach 200 MPH.........that's insane!
Whatever you decide to get, take a Motorcycle Safety Course and always be prepared for the worst. I started riding when I was 17........now I'm 53. I survived by following that simple rule. You really have to be careful on any motorcycle.......cars simply do not see you coming. And what they said in the sixties is true: "Speed Kills."

Personally (and I'm admittedly biased) I think that the best entry-level bikes are the Yamaha Seca II and the Suzuki Bandit. Both are "hybrid" sport/road bikes, so they are lighter than road bikes but sit more upright than sport bikes. They also both have very comfortable seats that sit a bit lower than traditional sport bikes, so they are good for anyone from around 5'5" to people over 6' (like me).

I own a 94 Seca II and it's been a great bike. Both of these bikes are available with 600cc engines (which is the best for a first bike IMHO), are very reliable, and are available used for a decent price.
