I have seen two types of connections from a META42, one is a mini(1/8 inch) to mini, the other is RCA (two cables) to mini. Well, it seems either one can have cables cost over 100 bucks. Spending 100-200 for an amp then 100 more just for the interconnect seems a ridiculous idea to me. My question is what's the difference between the two interconnects? And what's a reasonable price for an interconnect?

Well, either setup is just as practical, since it involves one cable and no addapters, it's just a matter of what connections you need. As for price, you can spend as much or as little as you want. How good a cable are you willing to pay for? And have you considdered making your own?

Something like <$30 for the interconnect.

Okay, my whole point is that I don't want to ask someone to build me a META then later realize the hidden cost of an interconnect. So I want to get this clear all the way.

For portable purposes, go with mini to mini, unless you plan on using it with a home cd player.

Despite what some might suggest, you can get an excellent cable perfectly suited to your task for your price. It needs to have solid build quality and shielding. That's about it.

No. You can buy ferrite clips from an electronics store, which will help with RF shielding, but there's no point. Proper shielded cables really are NOT that expensive.
