Ever since attending a competitive LAN with Grado's, I definitely need some closed headphones. Looking through the headphone.com graphs for isolation, it seems as if the DT770's are the most isolating (moreso than the 280 Pros, 250-80's, 271's, and even the QC2's [which i'd never buy]).

Are there any other closed headphones more isolating than the DT770's? Please no IEMs, I need to put them on and take them off far too often to deal with IEM's.

HD25-1 is one of the most isolating headphones I've worn. However, when you say full size, are you referring to circumaural? Not a contender if that's the case. Also, I'd question their soundstaging ability.

I'm wearing a pair of DT770/80's right now. Even with music at only moderate volumes, I can't hear my own typing (on a pretty loud keyboard), or me snapping my own fingers as hard as I can. I'd say the isolation is about as good as you could really want.

i always thought the hd280 had the best isolation out of those you have listed (from reading around here)

but to play games, getting the dt770 won't hurt at all =D durable and monstrous bass that will isolate you no matter the outside noises!

Headroom shows the 770's isolate better than the 280 pro's (for the most part):

Anyhow, I'm just thinking the DT770's 250ohms will be my answer. And if they're anything like the 880's for comfort, I'll fall in love. If you can't hear yourself typing, I say 770's will be PLENTY

http://www.extremeheadphones.com/ - Extreme Isolating Headphones.

Also, wualta says that vintage Sharpe (not sharp, sharpe) cans are more or less airport tarmac grade isolation.

Going to a LAN with Grados? WOW!

You don't need to go overboard with isolation with Grados as a benchmark. Grados do not isolate at all so the DT770 will seem like a godsend in comparison.

Plus, the DT770-80 should rock it for gaming, too.

I find that the 280's isolate a good bit better than 770's, However as mentioned the 77o is a sonically superior can. I would only recomend the 280 when isolation is paramount and SQ an afterthought.

okay mate, we have trouble here. i can hear myself typing on my hp keyboard and my dad's macbook with them at 'moderate volume... at loud volume, they are muffled, but at too loud and insane volumes, i can only hear my skull crack... dt770/80 - be careful with that volume.

that said, i love the isolation, it sure cuts down on computer noise and noisy enviros - even the street or bus is cut down to bearable levels. staging is of course (unsurpassed) good. they bloody rock

listen, they are damn good, but... not as comfortable as the dt880 if you still want isolation. i keep them rather stiff so that i can muffle my typing a bit and as i work at uni, keep the sounds of kids spray paiting the washrooms out of my ears.

x2... I owned both these cans at one point and the HD280 isolated considerably more than the 770.
