Looking at the headphones I've owned over the past year: HD580, Grado SR60, Koss KSC35, and D66 Eggos, only the SR60's and the HD580's can go around my neck.

Among those two, the HD580's win, because of the padding on the headstrap. They're a bit heavy though, and the SR60's are very light so they're not bad either.

SR60's are great because they're so light, but I've never taken them off and put them on my neck.

Just never have. I always lay them flat on the desk right in front of me or even on my keyboard when I take a break. I love how they lay flat like that, it's awesome.

You know, that's what I thought before I posted saying that I liked the HD580's. Then I took them off and put them on my neck, and *voila* it's actually comfortable, and I like the way they look laying flat on my shirt

The leather headband kinda scratches my neck, though...

I remember that for me HD600 was pretty uncomfortable in that position. Earcups were so big that if I wanted to look down with them around my neck, I would've had to bend over.

The only phone I own/owned that is actually comfortable to carry around like this is HP-1000. The fit is just perfect.

Newer Grados are not quite as good because of the springy headband, but they're not too bad either.

HD600 are good neckwear, but the DT250 are even better. I can actually forget that they are there.

The best, of course, are the Etys.

How about the worst? The big ATs are terrible for this. I haven't tried with the layflat W100s. That might help. The Sony CD3000 were pretty bad as well.

The Senn HD25 are the only phones to meet bangraman's 100% neckware approval. The SR-001 does meet the comfort rating but that's a lot more difficult to position back on the head.
