I'm rocking the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and loving their sound signature and detail. The only real issue I have with them is that at higher volumes they can be sharp, but besides that I don't have any real issues with them. I am looking to upgrade soon, though, and have been looking at the Sony MDR-7520 and the new Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro but will go for whatever headphone is the most detailed and accurate out there, preferably closed back.

This very much depends on what price you are willing to pay.

If you are looking for detail and accuracy in closed-back headphones and money is no issue, you might want to consider the following:
Shure KSE1500 (IEMs)
MrSpeakers Ether C Flow
Audeze LCD-XC
Sony MDR-Z1R
STAX 4070 (Not available new. It might take a while for you to fin one)

If you consider open back, you can empty your wallet even further for headphones like:
Focal Utopia
Stax SR-009
You can wait for the MrSpeakers electrostatic headphone (http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/show-newport-2016-mr-speakers-new-electrostatic-headphone#eWpd3s72L7BvP9IA.97)

And then there are the ridiculously expensive:
HiFiMAN Shangri La
Sennheiser HE1 (the new Orpheus)

If all of the above is way beyond your budget, Consider:
Fostex TH-900
Fostex TH-600
Fostex TH-6XX
Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro
Audeze Sine
Audeze EL8 Closed Back
Shure SRH1540

Is there anything else that would make you prefer one headphone over the other?

Thanks for the great detailed response! I'm looking for something that is detailed but not very colored and preferably neutral. I keep hearing how fantastic electrostats are for this. I pointed out closed back mainly because of the isolation that they usually provide.

You should add the Denon 7200 to your list too. They're way more neutral and accurate than their Fostex predecessors. They're also closed back, well built, and easy to drive.
