Hello,

I have been looking around at akg701's and keep seeing different descriptions for them like, openback,reference,dj,studio etc is there more than one kind and whats the difference? Also same thing is going on with hd 600's amazon has 4 pair for around 300 and one pair for almost 600 with different descriptions.Is their more than one kind of the hd600 whats the deal?

There shouldn't be different versions of the HD-600 nor K701. Can you provide links to where you found these different 'versions' (so we can also find out)?

If you're buying new, just pick the cheapest one (and from a reputable seller). As far as I'm aware, there are no version differences. You may also want to buy from one of Head-fi's sponsors (HD-600: HeadRoom & TTVJ; K701: HeadRoom & TTVJ).

I took a look at the Amazon links and yeah! That's Confusing!

At a glance it looks as though the phones are broken out as to which way each vendor "describes" it. As far as I know there is only one HD600 offered, but the way it's listed it does almost look as though there are various models.

That one vendor sure looks as though HE is planning to become wealthy at our expense for sure!

I got my HD-600 used for half the price of the new ones. They come complete with the box and stuff too. Worth looking at if you seek more bang per buck.

And yeah, that one seller is crazy for selling the Senn at that high price. Good for him though if he manages to find a willing buyer.

There are only one type of K701 and HD600.
