On Creative's Singapore site, they are promoting the new Muvo2 FM, a Muvo2 five gig player with a built-in FM tuner and recorder at a list price similar to the Ipod Mini. It still has the same screen and controls as the original Muvo2.

So compared to the Mini, the Muvo2 FM offers 25 percent more capacity, a built-in FM radio, 14 hour battery life, a replaceable battery, and recorder for about the same price.

I think you can now record FM directly with the Muvo2 FM itself, but you still need the FM wired remote to record vocie, unless they put a built-in mic on the Muvo2 FM. It's the same small screen, but I believe they improved the 4-way controller. It's supposed to be more joystick like and easier to use.

First the Zen Touch goes iPod white and now the Muvo2 FMs goes iPod Mini pink and green and blue. Talk about Creative Labs imitating Apple.

If only Apple would imitate Creative's sound quality and value.

Are you going for the "hot pink" one or the more conservative white one? Personally I think the black one still looks th best.

The love affair continues. All seriousness, will this be available in the US. I'd like to buy an HD mp3 by the end of the year.

I'm lucky enough to live in Singapore so there are just in the shops now, but damn, spend an extra $50sing (about $US30) and get another 15gigs with the Touch Zen! :P The built in FM is a nice feature though.

Still saving my pennies for that baby!

The lack of FM tuner has been a deal breaker for me. The player I was going to get was an Iriver Ihp-120.

Apparently, the Muvo2 FM will also have a built-in microphone so that you can record voice as well as record from the built-in FM tuner. There 4-way controller is now an improved mini-joystick, the screen is slightly larger (though not by much) and also a new non-LCD remote for it. Get more details at AV Watch Japan.

IT looks like the Muvo2 FM, Rio Carbon and iPod Mini are going to duke it out for the 4-5GB portable market surpremacy. I think iRiver also has a new player coming out.

Can anyone think of any practical reason why Creative chose to keep or make the screen so small. Although it's only 5G's of space, the screen use reminds me of the limitations I had with my RIOVOLT Sp250 MP3 CD player where because of the screen size, scrolling for songs was a real hassle. It still worked, but there wasn't a lot of fun in finding anything. Other than the lesser screen equals lesser chance of damage philosophy, is this solely a cost cutting approach by Creative or am I buying into a world where more visual information equals better user friendly player.

I'm not very fond of MuVo2's interface. I hate that tiny screen. But I dislike the interface and music listening method even worse. I mean, it works, but it's kinda crude.
