Variation’s bass is sub-bass focused, so if any mid-bass oriented instruments are on stake, it needs ear tip rolling, or recabling. I found myself comfortable with PW Audio’s Copper 28 V2 for the midbass coming out of Variations.
Yes, tip rolling is the first thing I do usually. I think the cable will be more fine tuning the sound. How does the Variations actually react on EQ ? I can always give a bump into the upper bass

Do note CP155 fits to B2/Dusk/Variations, but it alters the sonic resonance due to nozzle length and bore size.

For less alteration: wider bore /longer nozzle CP800, wider bore /shorter nozzle CP360 would work.

The new CP100 plus also does good job for Dusk, it’s a vocal region booster.
Yeah, I’d rather have a set that doesn’t alter sound as much but improves comfort.

Thank you for the tips. For me, Variations' bass is too much. MEST MKII could be my perfect fit then. RS10 will be my ultimate goal. I am not ready for it yet.
I also found the variations having too much bass with some tracks and too thin lower mids. Went back to tip rolling and found that the Spiral Dot ++ even out the frequency response.
I am enjoying them a lot now, exceptionally clean sound, very good layering, detail and imaging. Really good value.

Been really happy with the epro and jlab wireless tips. Might try the spiral dot ++ if can find a decent price on them. Amazon has them for $30 for 2 pairs. Are they really that much better than other Tips? If anyone knows a cheaper price or has a extra large size they can part with please let me know.

I use the Fiio BTR3k when commuting, is this enough to drive the Variations properly (balanced that is)?
I only have the BTR5, at volume 30,
the BTR3K should be fine,

@MOONDROP I too want to know more about the special line k upgrade cable preorder bonus. Details are very scarce for something with limited (preorder) availability.
It's just basically a SPC cable with plug of your choice.
Not much to say...

What makes it an upgrade cable then? Lmao. You can get an spc cable for as cheap as 5-10 bucks on Ali these days bute they're all crap and never last long. I don't care about the wire snake oil stuff, how one might sound better than the other. I just want something good quality that will last long. So let me rephrase my question, what makes this preorder bonus cable better than the stock cable?
