PW Audio reportedly makes some good cables but would it really hurt them to use a metal splitter instead of the heatshrink on the less expensive cables? Charge a couple bucks more if they have to.
It's just my opinion, but I don't think we should worry too much. A ton of IEM have similar nozzle designs and don't have anything to keep stuff out. Dunu SA6 is one that comes to mind.
I'd still be careful not to let stuff accumulate with the close proximity of the Knowles filter.
Unless you never ever clean your ears then it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe for some people who have a wet earwax condition that it could be a problem.
Yeah I immediately removed the filters off of the Variations as soon as I took them out of the box. I keep my ears clean so it was bothersome for me to keep them.
