As previously mentioned, the housing was from these "imperfect" KXXS shells which didn't have perfect mirror finish. While the diaphragm for KXXS are DLC coated and for starfield is super aligned carbon nanotube coated. The cable is also different.

Ah, ok. Thanks, very helpful explanation.

And also i can recommend(again) symbio eartips, they also have wide bore, but I can also recommend them to those who are looking for a stronger bass impact, due to hybrid construction( foam+sylicone) + wide bore, the bass is more defined and it has a better punch, but without any detalisation loss, the difference is very obvious comparing stock tips. With symbio eartips I can listen some metal, with stock eartips doom/death metal sounds too softly.

Starfield vs. IBasso IT00?
I had a listen with Ibasso IT00. Although not much
But I got to say the IT00 sounds more exciting than the Starfield.

I won a Starfield from a Twitter lottery. Not sure if I can add anything, it's been extensively reviewed but I like it. It has a good bass response with decent impact, mids are present and fluid, treble lacks some attack for me but are detailed. It's a balanced headphone with a good warm-ish timbre.

T2 is close to it but but loses in tonality, sometimes the T2 is sibilant and also lacks some bass for me. I also think the Starfield got a bigger spatial effect/imaging, not sure which, but it feels more spacious and open.

I'm also using oratory1990's EQ setting, I think it improves the IEM it lowers the 1k and increases treble a bit.

I plan to buy new tips, I think I'll go with Spinfits CP145. Anyone else has other suggestions

So, I've been listening further to my Starfield and comparing it to my HD650, and I tend to agree with the guy here (I don't remember who) who said that the former is a baby version of the latter with better bass extension, with some caveats on the tonality (I will not talk about technicalities since we are talking about different price points and form factors): the starfield is even smoother, but sometimes instruments like distorted guitars lack a bit of crunch and bite, while on the other hand the senns are a bit more upfront and aggressive but tend to show some harshness from time to time, esp in bad recordings.

If anyone finds the Starfield a bit too smooth, perhaps a bit boring, and lacking “bite”, I’d consider trying ePro Horn-Shaped tips. I really like them on the Legacy 3 and the T4. They make the sound a lot more lively, akin to a horn-loaded speaker, IMO. Alas, I don’t have the Starfield to try them on.

Ha, another E-pro Horn Shapes lover. They are absolute best sounding tips ever. But seem to be overlooked by others.

Fit might not be for everyone, as they are quite deep insertion. But what they do to treble and staging its just pure magic.

I suppose they are not best pick with bright iems.
